Student Interest Group in Neurology
![]()
The Student Interest Group in Neurology (SIGN) program is a network of 130 chapters in medical schools across the United States and Canada which was begun by the American Academy of Neurology (AAN). SIGN fosters medical student interest in neurology by providing opportunities to participate in clinical, research, and service activities in neurology, and increasing the student's neurologic knowledge. Student members of SIGN are eligible for free AAN membership and may also apply for national SIGN scholarships.

Student Mentoring Program
The 2005-2006 academic year is the first year of our SIGN mentoring program. In this program any first or second-year medical student interested in gaining more clinical exposure in neurology will choose a neurologist to shadow. The program is a great way for students who are considering neurology to learn more about what it's like to practice in the field, and to gain some hands on experience. Mentors in various sub-specialties of neurology have volunteered to be part of the program, and we will do our best to meet your requests. Once students have chosen a clinical mentor, and submitted an application to Kim Parker Gannon, they should contact the chosen mentor by their preferred means of communication to schedule meetings that will fit both of their schedules. It is the responsibility of the student to keep a record of his or her meetings.
